#LoveParksWeek - Please remember to 'BAG IT and BIN IT'.
Love Parks Week is back and taking place this year between Friday 29 July and Friday 5 August. Love Parks Week is celebrated every year across the country and gives everybody a chance to shout about their wonderful green spaces within their town.
Starting the week off, we are calling upon dog owners in Brackley to remember the 'bag it and bin it' approach to dog fouling.
Many residents in Brackley are keen dog owners so our parks and other public open spaces maintained by the Town Council are regularly visited and enjoyed, especially in the summer months.
The Town Council currently provides 70+ dog waste bins located on open spaces, parks and footpaths. These bins are emptied on a weekly basis by an external contractor.
We know that the vast majority of dog owners in the town are responsible. It is not very often we have to remind and ask our residents, but please remember to 'bag it and bin it' whilst out on your dog walks.
Did you know that fines can be issued to dog owners who do not clear up after their dogs? Anyone who fails to clear up after their dog can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100. If the case goes to court this could cost the owner or person in charge of the animal up to £1,000.
The Town Council has several dog waste bins available at different sites, although the public can also use normal litter bins to put their dog waste in (dog waste goes into the normal waste cycle, plus it can also be discarded in your domestic waste bin should you take the dog waste home with you).
Clearing up after your dog helps to prevent the spread of diseases that can affect not only dogs, but people too. There is no excuse to leave it.
