The Summer Reading Challenge returns this summer with a brand-new theme, Read to the Beat!

Run by The Reading Agency in partnership with public libraries, the free challenge encourages children aged 4-11 to keep reading throughout the summer holidays.

Children who sign up set their own reading goal and can read anything they enjoy, from stories and poems to non-fiction. As they progress, they can collect rewards and recognition for their reading, helping them stay motivated and build confidence ahead of the new school term.

This year's music-inspired theme invites children to explore the connections between reading, stories, songs and creativity.

The challenge officially launched in England and Wales on 4 July, with sign-up available at Brackley Library from Saturday 18 July. Children can also take part online through the Summer Reading Challenge website.
