National Conversation Survey on Community Life

The National Conversation is a UK wide survey and listening exercise inviting people to share their views on community life. It asks what people value about where they live and what kind of communities they would like to see in the future. The initiative is open to everyone and aims to gather a wide range of opinions from across the country.
The survey explores how people experience their local community, including what helps people feel connected, what challenges exist, and what could be improved. It also invites views on the places and spaces that matter most in everyday life such as local high streets, community spaces, and neighbourhood networks, and how these contribute to a sense of belonging.
The National Conversation is led by an independent commission supported by the Together Coalition. It is not a government survey. The aim is to understand how people feel about community life today and to gather ideas on how communities can be strengthened in the future. The responses will be used to inform wider discussions on community cohesion and how people can live well together across the UK.
