Meet the Mayor - Thank You!

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along to yesterday's Meet the Mayor event at the Town Hall. Cllr Bernie Tiller and Mace Bearer Michael Anderton took the group on a guided tour of the Town Hall, then taught them about Brackley's rich history, spanning all the way back to the Romans, through the Saxons, and covering key historic events like our connections to the Magna Carta and the Great Fire of Brackley. The Mayor then bestowed the children with their very own replica Mayoral chains. Not quite as bling as the real thing, but not half bad!

The group were also treated to some great talks from special guest speakers. Eddie Turvey, who offered a wealth of local knowledge having spent over 80 years in Brackley, spoke about our more modern histoy. Closing the afternoon was Jon Harvey, past Mayor of Buckingham, who read an excerpt from "The Mayor's Bear", a children's book he wrote himself, and kindly gifted copies to every child that attended.

We extend our thanks again to everyone who helped bring the event together. Days like these really remind us what a rich history Brackley has.
