Jason Kew Elected Brackley Town Mayor

We are pleased to announce that Cllr Jason Kew has been elected as Brackley Town Mayor for 2026/27, with Cllr Kate Nash appointed as Deputy Town Mayor.
The Mayor Making ceremony took place at the Town Hall on Saturday 9 May 2026, where a packed Civic Hall gathered to witness the annual statutory meeting of Brackley Town Council. The outgoing Mayor, Cllr Bernie Tiller, chaired the opening of the proceedings and delivered his closing address, thanking councillors, staff, volunteers and the wider community for their support throughout his year in office. During the ceremony, he also presented awards in recognition of community contribution, including a presentation to Trish Savill and the inaugural Tiller Reading Award to Brackley Library, celebrating schools’ participation in the library reading challenge.
Cllr Tiller also announced that a whopping £7,600 had been raised in total during his mayoral year for his chosen charity, b Yourself. Trustee of the charity, Victoria Morrell, accepted the cheque on the day, thanking Bernie and the council team for their efforts throughout the year and commenting that they look forward to continuing work with Cllr Tiller moving forward.
The mayoral chain was then officially handed over to Cllr Jason Kew, who was formally installed as Brackley Town Mayor and then took the chair for his first meeting in office. As his first act as Mayor, he officially appointed Cllr Kate Nash as Deputy Town Mayor.
In his address, Cllr Jason Kew spoke of how honoured and privileged he felt to serve as Mayor for 2026/27. He reflected on his long-standing connection to Brackley, both as a resident and a councillor, and shared that he never expected to take on the role of First Citizen. He spoke warmly of his commitment to the town’s history, heritage, local environment and biodiversity, and expressed his determination to continue the strong work of those who have gone before him.
Cllr Jason Kew then announced his chosen charities for the forthcoming mayoral year: Northamptonshire Youth Engagement (SNYE) and Brackley Men in Sheds. He highlighted the important work both organisations do within the community and expressed his enthusiasm for supporting them throughout the year ahead. Drawing the ceremony to a close, Cllr Kew offered heartfelt thanks to Cllr Bernie Tiller for his guidance, support and leadership during the past year, describing him as an inspiration whose dedication to the community set a high standard for the role.
Brackley Town Council would like to extend its sincere thanks to Cllr Bernie Tiller for his outstanding service as Mayor, and to congratulate both Cllr Jason Kew and Cllr Kate Nash on their appointments. We look forward to working with them as they take on their new roles and represent the town over the coming year, with optimism and pride in all that Brackley continues to achieve together.
