A new Community Food Larder hosted by Northampton Hope Centre has opened in Brackley

Posted in Residents' Information

What is a Community Food Larder?

Community food larders are available for anyone facing hardship. They are a membership programme that once joined, members can shop at any of the larders once a week to choose items.

Community larders are not just for crisis intervention like a food bank where individuals can receive an emergency food parcel up to 6 times a year. Northampton Hope Centres approach means they are able to provide a long-term solution to support those that are struggling.

Community larders are a social supermarket that provide food, household goods and toiletries to those who need them regularly. It’s a sustainable long-term solution to hardship, giving users choice and on-going support. Service does not stop at supermarket goods, members are also signposted to a range of services to help them through difficult times.

An annual joining fee of £10 will be charged to new members. The larder then works on a pay as you go scheme with £5 rewarding 10 points per week and £10 rewarding 22 points.
