Brackley Library now an Asset of Community Value

At the Town Council meeting on 4th December, Councillors considered a request from a local resident to register Brackley Library as an Asset of Community Value. In England, an asset of community value (ACV) is land or property of importance to a local community which is subject to additional protection from development under the Localism Act 2011. An application was submitted to South Northamptonshire Council (as the Planning Authority) to have the building registered, and we have just receive confirmation that this has been approved. The registration means that, if Northamptonshire County Council decided to sell the Library building, it must inform SNC and give the community the opportunity to raise the funds to purchase the building.
