World Singing Day in Brackley

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came down to the Piazza on Saturday to celebrate World Singing Day with us! Spirits were high as the event began with some fantastic dance performances from Starlight dance academy.
With lyric sheets in hand, the crowd soon got to grips with this year’s official song, “All of Us”, a feel-good track with a country-western twist, written by World Singing Day founder Scott Johnson.
Following a quick rehearsal, and with natural British reserve and modesty cast aside, everyone joined together to confidently perform the song on the Piazza, spreading smiles and cheer to passers-by. After performing the official World Singing Day song, the same track sung by communities all around the world, the crowd kept the spirit going with an impromptu singalong, featuring great renditions of “Sweet Caroline” and even Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. We were mercifully blessed with kind weather (no rain), a small miracle for October!
A special thank you goes to the Hon. Mrs. Alexandra Williams DL, who joined us on the day. She stood shoulder to shoulder with residents, singing along with a big smile and helping to share the joy and message of World Singing Day. Finally, a big thanks to Brackley Town Mayor Cllr Bernie Tiller for organising and hosting this heartwarming little community event.
