The Hidden Crime of Coercive Control Exhibition

Posted in West Northamptonshire Council

A new exhibition, The Hidden Crime of Coercive Control, is now on display in the meeting room at Brackley Library. Created by photographer Gemma Briggs, this compelling series of images explores coercive and controlling behaviour – a form of domestic abuse that is often subtle, hidden and can be devastating in its impact.

Using everyday domestic settings as “crime scenes”, the exhibition highlights the warning signs of coercive or controlling behaviour and draws on the real-life experiences of survivors. Information about local support services, including Northamptonshire Rape Crisis, EVE and Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service, is also available at the display.

The exhibition is open to the public during normal library hours (except when the meeting room is booked):

Brackley Library:

  • Monday: 9am – 2pm

  • Tuesday: 12pm – 5pm

  • Wednesday: 9am – 5pm

  • Thursday: Not available

  • Friday: 11am – 5pm

  • Saturday: 11.30am – 2pm

We encourage residents to visit, reflect and help raise awareness of this important issue.
