The Brackley Charter Market

The Brackley town market takes place every Friday in the picturesque piazza outside the Town Hall, anchoring the town's historic Market. Dating back to the early 1700s, the market originated as a hub where the Town Crier would make public announcements. Over the centuries, the space has evolved—from the removal of an old chemist’s building in 1961 to the relocation of the war memorial to make way for a cobbled piazza in 2006—but its spirit endures. Today it hosts a wide selection of stalls offering a vibrant mix of fresh produce, including fruit, vegetables, fish and shellfish, plants and shrubs, cheese, bread, olives, samosas, pet food, and more.
Besides the Charter Market, Brackley also hosts a smaller weekly Country Market at the Library every Friday morning between 10 am and 11:30 am. This cooperative run by local volunteers focuses on homemade local goods and home grow plants. Operating on a friendly, community-first basis, it offers a charming complement to the larger market and showcases the talents of local artisans. Brackley Town Council would like to celebrate, and help to bring attention to these marvellous markets so…
Do you ever find yourself wondering what to do on a Friday morning? Why not go down to the local market. You can get lovely treat for both yourself and a pet. You will also be helping out our brilliant local businesses. See you there?
