Town Centre Planting Scheme 2020
A little later than usual, Brackley Town Council Grounds Team members have been planting up the flower beds in our town centre this week.
Six beds have been planted, which will soon develop and grow for to make a cheerful display for our town.

Reminder to ALL dog owners
All dog owners are reminded that their dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times when visiting the St. James' Lake area. We have made numerous requests and placed signage in the area, but unfortunately, some people are not respecting these requests.

St. James' Lake update .......
Officers from the Environment Agency have visited St.James' Lake again today to carry out further investigations. Samples of water and dead fish have been taken for testing, and we will report findings as soon as council has been notified.

Town maintenance continues through lock-down
Whilst all play areas and equipment are closed for the foreseeable future, our grounds team are taking this time to ensure cleaning and maintenance regimes continue. Today, cleaning started at Brackley Park.
Under the supervision of Operations Manager Mark Stopps, our dedicated team are working hard to ensure standards are maintained within our town.

Dog owners urged to keep pets on leads
We have placed more signs around St. James' Lake today reminding people to keep their dogs on a lead whilst visiting.
This advice has been issued by the Government relating to current Covid-19 conditions. We also need to protect wildlife in the area, particularly very young ducklings and goslings. Coronavirus - Guidance on accessing Parks and Green Spaces with dogs
There are growing concerns that not all dog owners are keeping their pets on leads whilst using Brackley parks and open spaces, in particular, the area surrounding St. James' Lake.

UPDATE ...... Dead fish in St. James' Lake
Officers from the Environment Agency have now visited St. James' Lake following sightings of dead fish in the water. We are advised that the fish have died as a result of disease, possibly brought in by non-native fish. Members of Brackley & District Angling Club have photographic evidence of non-native fish int he lake such as Goldfish and Koi Carp.

Fish in St. James' Lake
It has been brought to our attention that there is a quantity of dead fish within St. James' Lake. On first inspection, we do not know how this has happened or where they have come from.
The Environment Agency have been informed, and will visit to inspect and test the water within the lake as soon as possible.

Brackley Town Council is aware that despite numerous requests under Covid-19 conditions, there are still many occasions when groups of people (not from the same household) insist on gathering at St. James's Lake - sitting on benches, socialising, drinking and generally not keeping to HM Government social distancing guidelines.
