Short-Term Help for Homes Using Oil

Posted in West Northamptonshire Council

Short-term emergency support is available for West Northamptonshire residents who rely on heating oil and are at risk of running out, ahead of new national funding due to start later this year.

The scheme runs until 31 March 2026 and helps households unable to afford a minimum oil delivery and facing an immediate heating risk. Residents may be eligible if they:

  • Live full-time in West Northamptonshire

  • Use heating oil as their main heating source

  • Have 150 litres or less, with priority for under 100 litres

  • Cannot afford a minimum delivery

Applicants must provide proof of oil heating, current tank levels, and recent financial information. Eligible households will receive a Post Office CashOut Voucher to contribute towards an oil delivery. The support is intended for urgent heating needs only and will not cover full delivery costs.

To request an application form, email: HSFA@westnorthants.gov.uk

From 1 April 2026, the Government’s new Crisis & Resilience Fund (CRF) will replace this scheme, offering dedicated support for households relying on heating oil.
