Poppy Appeal Launch - 2025

Posted in Events

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came out to Brackley’s first official launch of the Poppy Appeal, which took place on the Piazza this afternoon. The new chairman of the Brackley Royal British Legion, Tony McCawley, opened the short ceremony by sharing a few meaningful words and reading aloud the number of service people Britain has lost in each war since WWII.

Tony then explained that anyone who has lost someone, friends or family, is welcome to attach one of the old-style poppies as a mark of respect and remembrance to the painted wooden poppy stand next to the war memorial. Poppies can be found in a small container immediately beneath the display board and can be taken for a small contribution.

The Brackley Town Mayor, Cllr Bernie Tiller, then brought proceedings to a close, expressing his thanks to those who attended and officially announcing the opening of this year’s Poppy Appeal in Brackley.

Poppys will now be available from the Brackley Town Council office, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 9am - 4pm
