Brackley Town Council Opposes Parking Charges

Posted in West Northamptonshire Council

Brackley Town Council has officially submitted its response to West Northamptonshire Council’s 2026/27 budget consultation. In this response, the Council clearly set out its opposition to the proposed introduction of high street parking charges in Brackley.

The submission highlights concerns about the potential harm to high street traders, the increased risk of vacant premises, negative impacts on local jobs, and the wider effect on surrounding villages and individuals who rely on car access.

Summarising its position, the Council stated:

"We oppose introducing parking charges in Brackley because the policy is strategically misaligned, economically damaging, operationally counter productive, and legally risky if framed as revenue raising."

The public consultation closes at 12pm today, so if you agree with the Council’s position and would like to share your own views, please make sure your feedback is submitted as soon as possible. You do not need to complete every section of the survey, you can simply comment on the areas that matter most to you. You can also read Brackley Town Council’s full response via the link below.
