Bernie Tiller Elected Brackley Town Mayor

Posted in Brackley Town Council

At last night's meeting, the newly elected council gathered for the first time, with the election of a new Mayor as the opening item on the agenda. Outgoing Mayor Elaine Wiltshire chaired the start of the meeting, warmly welcoming Cllr Bernie Tiller as the new Brackley Town Mayor. She also expressed her heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to serve as Mayor over the past year and for the support she has received throughout her fourteen years as a Brackley Town councillor.

Cllr Bernie Tiller then sat as Chair of the meeting – his first of many – overseeing the election of Deputy Mayor Cllr Jason Kew, Chair of the Planning & General Works Committee Cllr Anthony Bagot-Webb, Chair of the Direct Responsibilities Committee Cllr Adrian Watt, and Chair of the Finance & Policy Committee Cllr Peter Rawlinson.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the councillors who have stepped down this year for their heartfelt efforts and dedication to making Brackley a better place during their years of service. Brackley Town Council has bid farewell to Chris Cartmell, who served an outstanding 34 years on the council; Elaine Wilshire, with 14 years of service; Fiona Baker, also with 14 years of service—although excitingly Fiona has been re-elected as one of our West Northants Councillors; Paul Wiltshire, who served for 10 years; Graham Judd, with 4 years of service; and Luke Young, also with 4 years of service. Thank you to all who have served Brackley—your legacy will live on in Brackley Town Council.

Finally a huge congratulations from us all to Cllr Bernie Tiller on his election as Brackley Town Mayor, and to all newly elected Deputies and Chairs. We look forward to the year ahead with excitement and anticipation for what this new council will achieve for our little market town.
