Notice of road closure, Barleymow Roundabout and Baynards Green Roundabout.

National highways plan to carry our work to replace electronic message signs on the M40 southbound and A43 southbound near to the M40 junction 10. Once complete drivers will benefit form improved real time journey information. 

This work will take place between Monday 29 January and Friday 2 February 2024. 

Closure and diversions

To carry out all work safely, we will need to close the A43 southbound between the A34/A421 Barleymow Roundabout and the Baynards Green Roundabout on Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 January 2024. 

All work will be carried out overnight between 9pm and 5am. 

Drivers will be diverted as follows:

• Motorway traffic will exit at the Barleymow Roundabout to head east onto A421 towards Tingewick, then head southbound on the A4421 to Bicester to then continue on the A4421 (Charbridge Lane) and Wretchwick Way to then join the A41 westbound towards Bicester Village. Drivers will then need to take the third exit onto the A41 to re-join the M40 at junction 9.

• Non-motorway traffic will exit at the Barleymow Roundabout to head east onto A421 towards Tingewick, then head southbound on the A4421 to Bicester, then join the A4095 westbound, to then take the B4100 northbound towards Baynards Green and re-join the A43. (Diversion map 2) The A43 northbound will remain open. To accommodate work on Wednesday 31 January and Thursday 1 February 2024, the hard shoulder and lanes one and two of the M40 southbound between junctions 11.
