HS ANNOUNCEMENT

Justine Greening, Secretary of State for Transport, has today announced her decision to proceed with the plans to build a high speed rail line between London and the West Midlands and on to Manchester and Leeds. HS2 will improve capacity across the rail network, shorten journey times between Britain's major population centres, boost the economy and create thousands of jobs.

This will affect Northamptonshire by the introduction of a longer green tunnel past Chipping Warden and Aston le Walls, and curve the route to avoid a cluster of important heritage sites around Edgcote. These changes will provide additional mitigation for Aston le Walls, reduce setting impact on Grade I listed Edgcote House, avoid a Scheduled Monument (the Roman Villa site) and the possible location of the historic Edgcote Moor battlefield.

It will also lower the alignment and introduce a green tunnel past Greatworth, and a short green tunnel at Turweston.  These changes will help mitigate landscape, noise and visual impacts as well as remove the need for a viaduct.

Brackley Town Market

Brackley MarketBRACKLEY MARKET , although a lot smaller than it was on the Upper Market Place, still has a variety of stalls with good quality merchandise and friendly traders you can trust.

Click here for details of current traders

We have room for a few more traders so if you sell anything different to the above contact the Town Council on 01280 702441.

It is important a market keeps its regular traders so customers know that, should there be any problems or faults with goods, the trader will be back next week. On the other hand the traders need to know that the customers will be back!!!!!!!! PLEASE SUPPORT THEM

THE PUBLICATION SCHEME

The Information Commissioner's Office has now developed and approved a new model publication scheme which can be adopted by town/parish and community councils. Brackley Town Council has adopted the new model scheme which will be operational from 1 January 2009. For the avoidance of doubt the new Model Scheme is generic in nature (i.e. it is for all public authorities irrespective of them being a local authority) and is not sector specific.

The model scheme is also available on the Information Commissioners website at www.ico.gov.uk - the easiest way of locating it is to click on Publication Schemes under the A-Z listing.

Please also click here to view Brackley Town Council's publication.
